The five most common bonus safety features are:
1. Airbags: Although auto insurance discounts vary from state to state, most states now require providers to give discounts to consumers who own cars with airbags.
2. Anti-lock brakes: Anti-lock brakes are intended to keep your wheels from locking if you slam on your brakes. Anti-lock brakes help you keep more control during a brutal stop and decrease your stopping distance. They are on 63% of all new cars made and on 90% of all light trucks. Some states require providers to give discounts to those people whose cars have anti-lock brakes.
3. Automatic seatbelts: More than half of those people killed in auto accidents in 2005 were not wearing seatbelts.
